TMAO – ”vanity project” Prof. Chris Gardener, Stanford
Witnessed a presentation by Chris Gardener at the UK Nutrition Society Winter Meeting 2023 in which the audience of dieticians and nutritionists (not nutritional therapists) were spellbound by his presentation on TMAO and heart disease and on promoting a plant based diet. Luckily Dr Carrie Ruxton got to question him before me. She pointed out the spurious information on TMAO and he replied that the research was a ‘vanity project’. Incredulous! CDG received funding for the study from Beyond Meat in the form of an unrestricted research gift made to Stanford University.

Thanks Ivor!
We used to use Gramoxone herbicide as a contact herbicide to desiccate potato foliage. We never used Glyphosate because we understood the meaning of what a systemic herbicide does!
Would be shocked if farmers used Glyphosate for this purpose tbh. As far as I understand, Glyphosate is patented as an antibiotic!

Will do more investigation on the purpose of the appendix regarding the microbiome
